Our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service this past season was absolutely beautiful. The service of Lessons and Carols is a rich tradition in this congregation. We welcomed many visitors and family members who were "home for the holidays".
Dr. Schweitzer and his wife, Susan, sponsored their third annual Lutheran Singles Retreat during the weekend of June 13-15. The retreat has increased in number every year. This year, a total of 52 young men and women attended the retreat. The event was held at Camp Omega in Waterville, Minnesota. Planning is already underway for the retreat next summer.
Wednesday, May 21, 2025 was a somber day for the people of Greenfield. The day marked the one year anniversary of the very powerful EF4 tornado that hit Greenfield and left a wake of the death of five people and several people with serious injuries. As well as terrible destruction in the community.
An all-day anniversary observance was planned to commemorate that fateful afternoon a year ago.
A hamburger cookout was held for the folks of Greenfield Wednesday evening.
A display area was also available for people to visit the tables of several agencies and organizations who help people with a variety of human needs.
A table was also set up by the Nodaway Valley Ministerial Association of which Immanuel Lutheran Church is a part. A variety of free literature was on display by the participating churches for visitors to peruse and take at their pleasure.
Dr. Keith Schweitzer is pictured manning the table during the course of the busy day.
